On Friday morning, after yet another early wake up by Big Daddy, I decided to try and make myself look respectable for work just to shake things up a bit.  This didn’t work (jeans won again) but during the process of poofing, spritzing and generally making quite a mission of my hair (which ended up in a very severe ponytail) Little Fella walks in and examines the array of products and then rubbing his sleepy eyes, turns around and declares that as he has a girlfriend now, he needs to sort out his hair.

I don’t know if the twins from X factor are the inspiration or Edward from Twilight, both of which he deems super cool, but has decided that his new look should now be that the hair must be up as high as it can go in the front in order for him to look cool. Well he’ll be glad I didn’t shave it off like he wanted a couple of months ago.

Of course, this is not the first mention of The Girlfriend, it’s just my first mention of The Girlfriend. It’s all very cute except for the fact that he seems to quite serious about all this and is planning the dates and has asked her to the school dance I knew nothing about. Hang on lad, let me catch up first.

So let’s get my head around this now – the boy is dating (in his own mind), spending a lot of time on his hair, moaning about needing cash, and is becoming very interested in his mobile phone.

All this would be a lot more daunting if I didn’t already know that boys don’t really grow up. Lightsabres will always be cool, burping will always be funny and at some point a hug will always be needed.
