The usual resolutions

“Make him stop! I’m feeling anger towards his face!” was the first thing I heard from my hubby after he came downstairs.

“I’m just looking at him! I’m not doing anything!” came the protest from my teenage son.

“That’s it. I’m punching him!”

I tuned out at this point. Amazingly this kind of exchange has become commonplace between my darling husband and my sweet boy. Having 2 big boys in the house is interesting. The banter levels have increased one million percent as has the grey levels in my hair. Invariably the exchange always ends in a bought of play fighting which isn’t as contained as it was when the boy was younger. Now that he is bigger than me, the play fighting with the Dad is now more… entertaining.

The back to work/school/normal routine of life is close at hand for us, with our year starting next week with the school time table. The end of holidays funk is starting to descend and as a result we have started to feel a little cramped in each others company…

We did have the News Years resolutions chat and my hubby made his quite swiftly and posted them on Twitter (as you do) and as my son has decided he doesn’t believe in them I’ve been trying to give him ideas which he blatantly doesn’t like (do well in exams, take up a sport, get a part-time job, stop making my blood pressure rise or even just pick up the dirty washing in your room every now and again before it stands up on it’s own… )

I don’t really believe in resolutions either but I have it in my mind that this year I’m going to increase productivity. I would like to involve my kids and family more in what I’m doing work wise so my business is more lifestyle orientated. I would also add I would like to be good and eat less, exercise more, be fit and healthy but there is a chocolate looking at me right now and laughing. I’m hoping that being more active with the kids adds that element of balance to my life – moving more, healthy food choices and so on.

UPDATE: This post was never finished because, well, life. I should’ve added that it would be marvellous to blog more but hey considering that this post was started in January and completed in March, I feel that perhaps frequency of blog posts is not high on the priority list at this stage.

I’m also having a giggle at the line I wrote that says “i would like to increase productivity…”
